New Zealand have been the only team to win all their Super 10 matches and they would wish to continue their winning streak. Put in a fairly ‘difficult’ group comprising of Australia, India, Pakistan and Bangladesh, New Zealand beat them all and even sealed their passage into the semis without facing the qualifying team. (STATS || POINTS TABLE || FIXTURES)

In what was expected to be a difficult start to the tournament, was anything but. Even though the Kiwis could only score 126/7 when batting first, they did the job with the ball and how! The spinners Mitchell Santner and Ish Sodhi were their heroes to wrap up India’s innings at 79, thus clinching the opener by 47 runs.

The Blackcaps then met Australia at a different venue of Dharamsala. Batting first, Kane Williamson-led team scored 142/8 in the allotted 20 overs. The Kangaroos failed to chase the target and New Zealand won the match by 8 runs.

New Zealand vs Pakistan (won by 22 runs)

New Zealand were up against Pakistan in their third match. Batting first, they went on to score 180/5 in 20 overs. Pakistan failed to chase the total and New Zealand attained their third consecutive win of the tournament by 22 runs. This assured them of a place in the semi-finals irrespective of the result of the final match.

New Zealand vs Bangladesh (won by 75 runs)

After winning three games on the trot, New Zealand’s path to semi-final stage was cleared and the match against Bangladesh was nothing less than a formality. The match went in New Zealand’s favour as Bangladesh failed to achieve the target of 146 runs as they were bundled out for 70 runs.
