Virat Kohli is a ‘trademark’ cricketer when it comes to chasing a target. Irrespective of the format, the swashbuckling stroke-maker destructs the opponent bowling attacks while going after a target. There have been several instances where he’s taken on the opponent bowling and carried India to victory in a crunch situation. 1) India vs Australia (ICC World T20 2016)

India were playing Australia in their fourth game of Super 10 stage in Mohali. A loss would have shown exit gates to the Indian team. Batting first, Australia posted a total of 160 runs. Indian openers suffered a poor start and the home team were tottering at 49/3. Virat Kohli scored an unbeaten 82 off 51 balls to anchor India home in a match which was being considered a virtual quarter-final. India won by 6 wickets.

2) India vs Pakistan (ICC World T20 2016)

India were up against arch rivals Pakistan in Kolkata. A rain-affected match saw some reduction in the overs. Both sides had 18 overs at their disposal. Pakistan scored 118 in their 18 overs. In reply, a failure at the top of Indian batting witnessed some more heroics from India’s vice-captain. Virat scored a responsible 55 not out to guide India to a 6 wicket win.

3) India vs Pakistan (Asia Cup 2016)

Though, this encounter at Dhaka emerged to be a low scoring game between the two neighbors but Virat Kohli’s phenomal batting display wasn’t left behind. Pakistan scored a mere 83 in 17.3 overs. In reply, Mohammad Amir ripped apart India’s batting making them struggle at 8 for 3. Kohli took charge of the situation and this time MS Dhoni’s ODI deputy played more of a steady innings. The required run-rate wasn’t an issue so the Delhi batsman paced his innings superbly and got his eye in to score 49 runs off 51 balls. India eventually won the match by 5 wickets.

4) India vs South Africa (ICC World T20 2014)

It was a big occasion with India playing the semis of World T20. India were playing Proteas in Mirpur. Riding on Faf du Plessis’ 58, South Africa scored 172 in 20 overs. India in reply got a decent start but lost wickets on equal intervals. It was once again Virat Kohli who scored 72 runs off 44 balls to guide India home by 6 wickets.

5) India vs Pakistan (ICC World T20 2012)

A much low-scoring game was witnessed in Colombo between India and Pakistan. After batting first, Pakistan just posted 128 but while chasing the target India lost Gautam Gambhir early which gave Virat another chance to show his batting skills. Kohli scored a scintillating 78 runs to see India home by 8 wickets.
